I have no exact information as to the number

of marks renewed in Hongkong. The procedure adopted

is to vest in the Government all enemy owned marks which are not already, vested in the liquidator

Call

of a local enemy firm, the marks being thus retained under Government control pending the conclusion of the war, when the whole question of enemy trading in the

Empire will come up for consideration. Meanwhile the Government is taking steps to keep these marks

off the market since, owing to local conditions they cannot be sold in Hongkong as in other Colonies.
